Data Shows Covered Stent as Potentially Important Tool in AMI Therapy

December 17, 2010

December 17, 2010 – Meta analysis data delivered at the Innovations in Interventional Cardiology 2010 meeting demonstrated the low adverse cardiac events of a coronary stent merged with an embolic protection device. The MGuard, from InspireMD, is specifically designed for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients.

Long-term data, including two years of clinical follow-up, was presented by Dariusz Dudek, from Poland. A panel also discussed the advancement into becoming an important tool in modern AMI therapy.

The device’s embolic protection is comprised of an ultra-thin polymer mesh sleeve that wraps the stent. The coronary stent provides permanent embolic protection without affecting deliverability.

It is CE Mark approved.
