Digital Stethoscope Amplifies Volume, Records Sound

April 23, 2008

The Thinklabs Digital Stethoscope offers a small, AAA battery-powered amplifer installed in fork of the ear piece tubing.

It has a button to choose bell or diaphram modes and can amplify sound 50 times what is normally heard. The device allows the sounds to be recorded on an iPod using a cable. Free software comes with the device so the recordings can be downloaded into a computer as audio and visual waveforms. These files can be entered into the patient’s EMR.
