FDA Clears CT Dose-Lowering Software
January 5, 2011 — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given clearance for Medic Vision Ltd. to market its SafeCT product in the United States. SafeCT processes and enhances images spanning a broad range of clinical applications acquired on a wide variety of computed tomography (CT) scanners.
SafeCT enables a 50 percent dose reduction in CT scans without compromising image quality and diagnostic information, according to the company. It is compatible with most major CT platforms and picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) and as an add-on solution can provide low-dose imaging functionality to the scanners.
SafeCT has been clinically validated at leading medical centers, with hundreds of patients tested and results presented in a number of papers.
