Siemens Emphasizes Imaging Workflow, Decision Support at HIMSS
February 20, 2008 - At HIMSS 2008, Siemens Healthcare will emphasize its image data management solutions for radiology and cardiology and Soarian Quality Measures decision support software, as it strives to offer products to assist healthcare organizations in innovating workflows and delivering higher quality patient care at reduced costs.
The company will feature its syngo Suite, designed to integrate the complete imaging management workflow to a unified work environment and help increase the efficiency of diagnostic and therapeutic cycles, providing fast, intuitive and role-based access to information. The solutions include RIS, PACS and processing in a package for imaging needs in radiology and cardiology and is comprised of: syngo Workflow, syngo Imaging and syngo Dynamics.
The aim of syngo Workflow is to drive the radiological workflow from order entry to image and report distribution and offer flexible role-based worklists as well as access to relevant information and tools. The reportedly scalable radiology workflow for various clinical and operational needs is said to optimize reporting workflow through an embedded voice module. Because it is part of the syngo Suite, there are no additional expenses for data reconciliation of the RIS and PACS databases and for the maintenance of a broker. The data consistency between RIS and PACS is meant to offer radiologists and clinicians with coordinated images and results throughout the organization.
By combining multimodality, diagnostic image management from syngo Dynamics with the nursing documentation, orders and outcomes analysis capabilities of Soarian Cardiology, the Soarian Cardiology and syngo Dynamics solution offer procedural and episodic care reporting capabilities and a cardiovascular electronic patient record (EPR) that supports the cardiac care process. With Soarian Cardiology and syngo Dynamics, Siemens advances its trendsetting strategy of delivering end-to-end IT, imaging and workflow solutions. In a clinical environment where images are critical to the care of a patient, physicians need all images and data accessible at one workstation and available via a longitudinal clinical repository. The manufacturer says that this solution is provided to enable seamless workflow for cardiovascular patients.
Soarian Quality Measures, powered by the REMIND (Reliable Extraction and Meaningful Inference from Non-structured Data) Platform, was created to replaces time-consuming manual chart reviews with accurate and automated chart abstraction of quality measures, as defined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission. This technology is said to analyze and draw conclusions from available patient information, including structured data, such as demographics and financial information and unstructured free text found in clinical notes and transcribed reports. The results of the analysis are presented in a reportedly intuitive interface, allowing the abstractor to review and validate the results.
