TCT 2009 Offers Key Information on Latest PCI Advances
August 21, 2009 – The Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) 2009 symposium is set for Sept. 21-25, at The Moscone Center in San Francisco, Calif.
This year's TCT was developed to reflect the advances and changes in the field while maintaining a long-standing commitment to TCT's core values: focus on therapy innovation, trust in evidence-based medicine, and dedication to putting patients first. The event includes sessions on the latest advancements in cardiac diagnostics, imaging, coronary and peripheral stenting interventions, percutaneous structural heart repair. Live interventional procedures will be broadcast from around the world in several large-screen theaters. The exhibit floor will highlight the latest technology and devices from manufacturers.
This year’s TCT will include a greater focus on health information technologies with the passage earlier this year of the federal Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, which provides billions in federal funding for electronic medical upgrades.
This year’s TCT will also include a tract for cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons. The in-depth, five-day meeting focusing on novel and advanced surgical techniques and including a thorough introductory course on transcatheter coronary and valve disease therapies for the surgeon. The practice of cardiovascular surgery for coronary artery and valve disease is being transformed by lesser invasive endovascular and robotic approaches, new insights from pre-, post-, and intra-operative imaging, novel anastomotic connectors and ventricular support devices, and an increasing recognition of the advantages of hybrid surgical and percutaneous procedures. Advances in endograft technology and technique have also revolutionized the treatment of aortic aneurysms and dissection.
The TCT for Nurses and Technologists at TCT 2009 will provide a forum for discussion of the latest advances in interventional, pharmacologic, and clinical/administrative strategies for the management of the cardiovascular patient. Content is presented utilizing didactic lectures, case presentations, panel discussions, hands-on workshops, and breakout sessions.
