Volcano Will Begin Direct Sales of IVUS In Japan

July 9, 2009

July 9, 2009 - Volcano Corporation said yesterday it signed a termination agreement with its largest distributor in Japan, Goodman Company Ltd., enabling Volcano to accelerate its transition to a direct sales force in the market to support its intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and functional measurement (FM) consoles and disposables.

The company said it is completing the transition nearly a year ahead of its original timetable. Japan is the largest IVUS market in the world and represents a great market opportunity for the company’s FM offerings, as well as the products in development pipeline, such as image-guided therapy, optical coherence tomography (OCT), forward-looking IVUS and impact micro-catheters.

Volcano already has more than 40 sales reps and about 80 personnel in Japan.
