Zoll Defibrillator Fits New Guidelines

November 17, 2006

ZOLL Medical Corp. has announced it is now shipping all models of the ZOLL M Series defibrillator that comply with 2005 AHA/ERC Guidelines.

To treat cardiac arrest, the 2005 Guidelines now recommend delivery of a single shock followed immediately by a period of CPR, beginning with chest compressions (Class IIa). This replaces the old recommendation of a “stacked” sequence of up to three shocks without interposed chest compressions. The new version of the M Series now accommodates this new recommendation when in AED and Advisory modes, allowing for longer periods of uninterrupted chest compressions.
