December 2, 2011 – At the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting, Sony Electronics unveiled its new works-in-progress 25-inch Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) medical grade monitor. With the introduction of the PVM-2551MD display (pending 510(k) clearance), Sony is the first display manufacturer to show the noted advantages of OLED technology to the radiology industry.
November 28, 2011 – Philips Healthcare announced 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the company’s first commercially available whole body positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance (PET/MR) imaging system, the Ingenuity TF PET/MR. This platform will redefine how medicine is practiced in the future by helping clinicians and researchers investigate novel personalized medicine and treatments for oncology, cardiology and neurology. 
December 1, 2011 – Vizua introduced an interactive, cloud-based 3-D scan visualization and collaboration platform at RSNA 2011. Designed to extend the capabilities of radiology practices, Vizua enables real-time exploration and sharing of high-definition 3-D views created directly from traditional 2-D scans. Because Vizua is accessed through a Web browser, the technology works on any system and costs less than today’s 2-D offerings. The easy to use syste allows access to images by both referring physicians and patients.
November 30, 2011 — Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc., launched the Aplio 500 ultrasound system, enabling clinicians to diagnose using advanced visualization tools. The system is 510(k) cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and displayed at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, Nov. 27 – Dec. 2.
November 28, 2011 — At RSNA 2011, GE Healthcare introduced the innovative magnetic resonance (MR) Patient Experience Suite, part of its healthymagination strategy to improve the quality of patient care. The suite aims to “humanize” radiology by softening the clinical look, feel and sound of a traditional MR exam.
November 27, 2011 – BRIT Systems, Inc., announced new cardiac imaging enhancements to WebWorks, a 100% browser-based viewer. The new tools for cardiac ultrasound and optional MPR capabilities are part of Roentgen Works version 1.4, which is being demonstrated in BRIT Systems’ booth #4200 at RSNA 2011.
November 28, 2011 – At the 97th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), from November 27 to December 2 in Chicago, Siemens Healthcare is unveiling the Somatom Definition Edge – the first single-source computed tomography (CT) to use Siemens’ recently developed Stellar Detector. In routine examinations, structures up to 0.3 mm are visible, and image sharpness may potentially be improved.
November 28, 2011 – Siemens Healthcare launched the Acuson S3000, its latest ultra-premium ultrasound platform, at the 97th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), November 27 to December 2 in Chicago. The new system includes advanced automated ultrasound fusion imaging, as well as multi-modality review capabilities to provide additional clinical and spatial information in the analysis of complex pathology and/or when performing interventional procedures such as biopsies.
November 27, 2011 – Siemens Healthcare has launched five new mobile solutions that help provide imaging specialists and referring physicians with secure access to diagnostic images and reports, both inside and outside the hospital. syngo.via WebViewer enables fast viewing of images with stunning graphics and syngo.via WebReport provides secure access to reports and images anywhere. Both syngo.via WebViewer and syngo.via WebReport are available for download from the App Store and are designed to operate on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

November 3, 2011 — Infinitt North America announced that their Xelis Cardiac product has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and is now widely available to the North American market.  Xelis Cardiac is a 2-D, 3-D and 4-D display and analysis tool for coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) and left ventricle analysis (LVA). It is one of several advanced visualization tools for specialized clinical applications that Infinitt markets under the Xelis name.
November 21, 2011 — VasSol’s Noninvasive Optimum Vessel Analysis (NOVA) technology provides physicians with detailed, quantitative information of blood flow through any vessel in the brain. Information provided includes velocity, volume and direction.

Cerner cardiovascular solutions enable cardiologists to automate functions across the continuum of care. Built upon the Cerner Millennium architecture, Cerner’s PowerChart Cardiovascular solution unifies cardiovascular diagnostic activities, therapeutic interventions and follow-up regimens into a single workflow, integrated with the electronic health record (EHR).  PowerChart Cardiovascular gives the cardiologist the ability to view images in context with Cerner’s cardiovascular workflow manager utilizing the integration with the Merge viewer.
Philips TruFlight Select is its first economical positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) system equipped premium time-of-flight (TOF) technology, Astonish TF.  Competitive systems with similar performance can cost up to $500,000 more than the TruFlight Select PET/CT.

October 31, 2011 – NordicNeuroLab (NNL), a developer of products for functional neuroimaging, announced the launch of its magnetic resonance (MR)-compatible liquid crystal display (LCD) display. Branded the NNL LCD Monitor, the monitor is intended for use in functional MR imaging, patient comfort and relaxation, and as procedural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) display.
October 31, 2011 – To ensure MR imaging is as efficient and safe as possible, Toshiba America Medical Systems has unveiled enhancements to its Vantage Titan MR (magnetic resonance) product line, including the first high-density 16-channel flexible coil system (works-in-progress). The new additions to the Vantage Titan MR systems are designed to make it easier for clinicians to complete high-quality exams and improve diagnostic efficiency.
October 24, 2011 – As a result of the long-standing relationship between Philips Healthcare and ScImage Inc., the two companies are pleased to announce a newly developed integration option between ScImage’s PicomEnterprise picture archive and communications systems (PACS) and the Philips PageWriter TC series cardiographs. As a team, the two companies believe this interface will greatly simplify clinical electrocardiogram (ECG) workflow and reduce the complexity normally associated with custom integration.
The Luminos Agile fluoroscopy/radiography system is the first patient-side controlled system with dynamic flat-panel detector technology, height-adjustable table and true dual-use capability for fluoroscopy and radiography. October 18, 2011 — For the first time, Ziehm Imaging offers its Ziehm Vision R mobile C-arm with a powerful 20 kilowatt (kW) generator. The compact monoblock generator triples the performance of the predecessor model and can be used for unlimited fluoroscopy time in the operating room (OR), as it is water-cooled.
October 14, 2011 — GE Healthcare received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance of the Discovery MR750w wide bore 3.0T system with GEM (Geometry Embracing Method) suite of coils. This new wide bore 3.0 Tesla magnetic resonance (MR) system addresses patient demand for a better and more comfortable scanning experience. In particular, the new patient-friendly design accommodates patients who are usually difficult to scan; this includes larger, claustrophobic, elderly or very young patients, or those who are in pain and require a larger imaging system.
October 12, 2011 – The Logiq S8 portable ultrasound system from GE Healthcare fits easily into small exam rooms, can be rolled to where it is needed and provides images across a variety of clinical areas including abdominal, musculoskeletal, breast, vascular and cardiology.

October 3, 2011 — Kjaya Medical will debut iShareScan.com, a cloud-based image sharing solution, at RSNA 2011. The site is available at no cost to imaging sites. It enables users to upload images to the Kjaya cloud, where they may be accessed, viewed and manipulated instantaneously in 2-D, 3-D or 4-D by authorized physicians utilizing the company’s advanced remote viewer.
September 27, 2011 – Calgary Scientific Inc. has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market medical imaging application, ResolutionMD Mobile, as a mobile diagnostic application in the United States. With this secure, highly scalable, server-based software solution, physicians anywhere can rapidly access, view and interact with patient images and reports stored within any healthcare facility, and render a clinical diagnosis using their mobile devices.
Toshiba will showcase its proprietary non-contrast magnetic resonance (MR) angiography imaging techniques and a new application of Time-Spatial Labeling Inversion Pulse (Time-SLIP) at the 2011 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) trade show. To evaluate cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow disorders in children and adults, Time-SLIP can visualize CSF flow without the administration of contrast media, making imaging safer for patients.
Toshiba will showcase the Vantage Titan 3.0T MR system at the 2011 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) trade show. September 13, 2011 – An U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) will discuss recommendations for Cook Medical Zilver PTX self-expanding drug-eluting peripheral stent at its Oct. 13, 2011, meeting in Gaithersburg, Md. July 25, 2011 —Siemens Healthcare announced that syngo Neuro PBV IR (parenchymal blood volume interventional radiology) has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) marketing clearance. The software package is intended to provide visual assistance to physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of vessel malformations (such as aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and stenoses).
May 20, 2011 – Medrad Inc., a business of Bayer HealthCare, has announced the launch of the next generation Intego PET Infusion System, which features a new design that is 38% smaller, power-driven and includes enhancements to technologist workflow. The new Intego will be on display at the Annual Meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM), June 4-8, in San Antonio, Texas.
