Thermocool SF Offers Better Cooling, Visualization

May 14, 2012

The Biosense Webster Thermocool SF (surround flow) Nav irrigated ablation catheter with Curve Visualization combines a more porous tip with increased visualization using the Carto3 3-D mapping and ablation system. This enhanced technology is designed to reduce fluoroscopy exposure to physicians, lab staff and patients alike, enhance visualization of the ablation catheters orientation and improve procedural efficiency.

The Thermocool SF increased the number of irrigation holes in the tip from six to 56 offers more efficient, uniform cooling than previous catheters. Curve Visualization allows better visualization of the catheter in the Carto3 system. Previously only the tip was shown during procedures. The new system shows 40-90 mm of catheter to better show the orientation of the catheter and how it is supported inside the heart. The catheter is approved in the United States for treatment of drug refractory recurrent symptomatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation when used with Carto systems and Type 1 atrial flutter for patients 18 years and older. For more information:
