Terumo Interventional Systems' 0.018-inch Glidewire Advantage peripheral guidewire is intended to enable physicians to confidently cross the lesion, deliver the interventional device and maintain access throughout the procedure using a single wire. With the addition of a new size, the Glidewire Advantage line of specialty guidewires can now be used in a broader range of procedures, including visceral, above-the-knee and below-the-knee applications.

Terumo employs its proprietary DuoCore technology that fuses the original hydrophilic-coated Glidewire construction with a stiffer nitinol core encapsulated by a spiral, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coating. This design eliminates the need for multiple wire exchanges, which may reduce the risk of patient complications.

The Glidewire Advantage peripheral guidewire was launched at the 2013 annual conference of Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT).
