September 4, 2013 — Terumo has introduced the GlideSheath Slender Hydrophilic Introducer Sheath, a 6 French sheath that has the outer diameter of a 5 French sheath. Its narrower profile makes it optimal for radial access, especially in women with smaller radial access.
Other key features of the device include a thin-wall technology that reduces the outside diameter by 1 French while maintaining an inner diameter equivalent for compatibility with devices up to 6 French. It offers less penetration resistance at the puncture site than conventional sheaths. The sheath allows physicians to quickly perform diagnostic and interventional procedures without upsizing to a larger sheath. It also incorporates Terumo Glide Technology for ease of insertion and removal.
