AIMed

AIMed was created with the purpose of advancing data science and artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine around the world. The organization hosts numerous in person and digital events throughout the year to discuss the advancement of AI in medicine. AIMed was created by Anthony Chang, M.D., MPH, MS, MBA, who also is the director of the Medical Intelligence and Innovation Institute (MI3), which is based at the Children's Hospital of Orange County, Calif. MI3 is funded by the Sharon Disney Lund Foundation with the purpose of advancing data science and artificial intelligence in medicine around the world.

During the AIMed 2023 Summit, a panel of experts shared their personal perspective on what’s happening in artificial intelligence (AI), particularly with ChatGPT, and where they think these advances are going, in a panel discussion titled AI Foundations: 2023 Update of AI in Healthcare.

In February 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared artificial intelligence software to assist in the acquisition of cardiac ultrasound images. The Caption Guidance software from Caption Health is an accessory to compatible diagnostic ultrasound systems and uses artificial intelligence to help the user capture images of a patient’s heart that are of acceptable diagnostic quality. It is aimed at point of care ultrasound (POCUS) exams, where users may not be regular sonographers.
