September 16, 2010 – The features of the Infinix-i angiography systems that make the radial access approach more successful will be highlighted at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) symposium Sept. 21-25 in Washington, D.C.
Toshiba America Medical Systems’ Infinix-i systems are equipped with a five-axis positioner that allows very good patient access. Floor- and ceiling-mounted C-arms can also be rotated and positioned to create 180-degree patient access around the head end of the table. The ability to manipulate the system’s components like this ensures more comfortable positioning for radial access from either the right or left arms.
The radial approach for catheterization is gaining momentum in the United States. The most notable advantage of the radial approach is the significant reduction of post-procedure bleeding — only a short compression of the radial artery is necessary to stop the bleeding. This approach can potentially reduce patients’ recovery time, resulting in many patients walking away from the procedure almost immediately.
