Latest Cardiovascular Ultrasound Solutions Showcased at ASE 2012

June 29, 2012 — More than 61 companies will display their latest products and services at the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) Annual Scientific Sessions, June 30-July 3 in National Harbor, Md. Highlights from the show floor, as reported by the vendors, will include:

American Society of Echocardiography

This year’s ASE booth will include an ASE Mobile App Station, where attendees can test apps on iPads.  Two new DVDs will also be featured: “How to do a Basic Transthoracic Echocardiogram: Transducer Position and Anatomy,” and ASE University II, a self-study program containing 15 presentations and associated guidelines that users can move through at their own pace.

ASE Echo Around the World

ASE’s “Echo Around the World” booth will explain the society’s international outreach, including a new video presentation on ASE Global: Focus on India, the first ASE-sponsored global echo project.

CardioServ

CardioServ is highlighting its upcoming release of Accredit Coach, a Web application software for echo accreditation. It coaches echo users through the process, providing advice, tips, audit alerts, as well as creating site specific policies and a compliant quality assurance program within their lab.  Booth 429

Sound Ergonomics

Sound Ergonomics is introducing a new cardiac ultrasound exam table by Oakworks Medical. The apical access sliding panel allows sonographers to create an opening needed to comfortably scan a patient’s cardiac apex.

VidiStar

In June, VidiStar received its U.S. patent for creating and rendering DICOM structured reports over the Internet. VidiStar also is releasing its recently developed Internet, remote processing of cardiac nuclear stress studies.

Toshiba

Toshiba is showcasing its newest ultrasound system, the Aplio 500, which brings quantitative cardiac analysis bedside. It features Toshiba’s Wall Motion Tracking technology, combined with ergonomics and a smaller footprint than most systems, making it easier to maneuver and helping to improved workflow. Also highlighted is the Aplio Artida, the company's flagship cardiovascular ultrasound, with new software version 3.0, which offers improved 3-D imaging and next-generation 3-D Wall Motion Tracking software, providing accurate and reproducible quantitative analysis of cardiac function.

Cardiac Accreditation Service

In addition to updates to its easy-to-use and cost-effective accreditation software solution, Cardiac Accreditation Services (CAS, booth 526) is excited to announce its new partnership with UltraLinq (booth 517). Beginning this summer, UltraLinq clients who subscribe to CAS's software service will be able to turn their attention to patient care and practice growth--without worrying about accreditation paperwork.

lifeImage

lifeImage is showcasing a unique set of services that allow cardiology departments to send and receive imaging exams, wherever needed, with a universal viewer that can play multi-frame echocardiography images at the acquired frame rate. Beneficial use cases for this service include second opinions, off-hours reading, referral consideration, and instant viewing during emergency cases.

IAC

IAC is launching new services and enhancements are to ensure that the IAC accreditation program offers a process that is streamlined and offers leadership and is inclusive. While maintaining high standards focused on quality patient care, the IAC now offers program enhancements, including a 60 day comment period for new standards, dramatic enhancements to the online application, accreditation checklists, and the ability to upload case studies through a picture archiving and communications system (PACS) later this year.

Fujifilm

On display will be Synapse Cardiovascular V 4.0.8, featuring turbo-charged image review that is up to 40 percent faster; Synapse 3D for cardiovascular, a high-speed application with advanced visualization; Synapse Mobility V 3.0, a mobile solution that enables remote access to the entire Synapse suite of products; and the SonoSite point-of-care ultrasound.

Trisonics

Trisonics Inc. is launching a website (www.trisonics.com) created with the customer in mind, featuring an informational directory of the equipment carried and/or serviced by the vendor. It also has a button for pricing requests.

VentriPoint

VentriPoint developed a novel way to reconstruct a 3-D image of the heart by identifying anatomical sites and then using a database to connect all the dots to form a precise image of showing the shape and size. One condition where doctors are particularly challenged is blue-baby syndrome (Tetralogy of Fallot), a congenital heart defect that affects newborns. It is very difficult, often impossible, to get accurate measurements of these tiny hearts in order to determine the best way and time to operate on the child to surgically repair the defect.

UltraLinq

UltraLinq Healthcare Solutions will introduce the latest version of its cloud-based image management solution, which includes feature enhancements to their reporting and dictation capabilities, as well as improved mobile device viewing and reporting from the iPad and iPhone. Additionally UltraLinq now allows direct integration with their newest partner product, Cardiac Accreditation Services.

Philips Healthcare

Philips is expanding the clinical utility of live 3-D transesophogeal echo (TEE), as well as the latest functionality added to the iE33 platform on the new Vision 2012 release. It is also is featuring new releases on the CX50 and HD15 ultrasound systems.

GE Healthcare

GE Healthcare is showcasing the latest version of its Vivid E9 cardiovascular ultrasound system. The Vivid E9 Breakthrough 2012 (BT12) includes a 4-D transducer for TEE and provides tools to help improve workflow efficiency through simplified image acquisition, intuitive navigation and advanced, yet easy to use, quantification.

Siemens

With the premium-performance Acuson SC2000 ultrasound system, single-beat, full-volume imaging is easily integrated with standard 2-D protocols. With IN Focus technology, the system delivers a high level of detail and contrast resolution throughout the entire field of view. Siemens’ technologies – including eSie LVA volume LV analysis, eSie PISA volume analysis, eSie Echo workflow applications – generate results regardless of how difficult the case. This gives the user an unprecedented diagnostic solution to deliver the most advanced patient care possible – today and well into the future.

Digisonics

Digisonics will showcase its cardiology PACS and structured reporting solutions. Rated the No. 1 cardiology PACS vendor for the past four consecutive years, Digisonics provides structured reporting solutions for all cardiovascular modalities, including echo, vascular, nuclear, cardiac cath, cardiac CT, cardiac MR and ECG. Recent innovations include integration with tablet and mobile devices including the Apple iPad.  Combined with seamless integration options between HIS/RIS, EMR and PACS systems, Digisonics software solutions create an electronic workflow for improved report turnaround times and greater efficiency.

CCI

Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is an independent credentialing agency that began credentialing cardiovascular professionals in 1968. All CCI credentials, including the Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) are accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under the ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 standards.  CCI’s newest credentials, including the Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS), achieved accreditation in December 2011.

Medtronic

Medtronic will introduce its new Seize Simplicity iPad app.  The Seize Simplicity: Heart Valve Treatment Resource patient education app accurately depicts a 3-D heart model and shows how various heart valve products can be used for heart valve repair and replacement procedures.  Physicians can use this tool to help patients better understand the difficult-to-interpret complexities of the heart through a colorful, interactive and visual experience. An educational video, “Echocardiographic Assessment of Prosthetic Heart Valves,” featuring David S. Bach, M.D., professor of medicine, University of Michigan, will be available for viewing; attendees can order a copy of this DVD at the Medtronic booth.
