Ruling May Aid Endologix Defense in Cook Stent Graft Patent Lawsuit

August 19, 2011 - Endologix Inc. said a ruling this week will likely aid its defense in a stent graft patent litigation case filed by Cook Medical.

This week, Judge Tanya Walton Pratt of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana in Indianapolis issued a Markman ruling. In a Markman ruling, the court determines the meaning of disputed patent claim terms at issue in patent litigation. The process began with a briefing and oral argument on April 15, 2011, defining numerous terms of the two patent claims Cook is asserting. Judge Pratt adopted many of Endologix's proposed constructions for several terms of claims of both asserted patents. These include constructions the company considers important for the outcome of the case.

The trial date for the patent infringement lawsuit has not yet been set but is anticipated for fall 2012.

Endologix Inc. develops and manufactures minimally invasive treatments for aortic disorders. The company's focus is endovascular stent grafts for the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA).
