Siemens Highlights Interoperability Solutions at HIMSS 2015

Raadiology workflow solutions integrate with PACS, provide cloud-based interoperability

April 16, 2015 — Siemens Healthcare showcased their healthcare information technology portfolio, including software and hardware supporting clinical workflow and enhanced productivity, at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2015 conference, April 13-15 in Chicago.

syngo Workflow
syngo Workflow VB20 is Siemens’ latest workflow platform for imaging. The platform enhances adoption of dedicated user-centric portals and supports seamless workflows through integration with syngo.plaza, Siemens’ picture archiving and communications system (PACS). Users can take advantage of a new mobile application and new electronic communication capabilities to enhance patient engagement and promote paperless workflows. syngo Workflow VB20 reduces administrative efforts to generate graphical management-style department KPI’s, and brings a brand-new speech recognition module to better support radiologists and a centralized hub for radiology administrators to streamline their day-to-day tasks.

teamplay
Recently introduced, “teamplay” is the new cloud-based network that helps link hospitals and healthcare experts, providing them with the ability to connect, compare and collaborate by acquiring and exchanging data and pool their knowledge. Within hospitals, “teamplay” makes it possible to evaluate the extensive amount of information generated by imaging devices – e.g. scanner capacity utilization, examination times or radiation doses – and compare the numbers against in-house and third-party reference values. This means imaging devices can be analyzed in real-time and their operation optimized based on the results, right down to the individual device level.  Because “teamplay” runs on tablets, laptops and desktop PCs, members of the network have flexible access to the information, subject to the appropriate authorization and security measures.

Laboratory Diagnostics
Siemens showcased two solutions in laboratory diagnostics. The CentraLink Data Management System is a data management solution that empowers labs to efficiently deliver timely, accurate results. With the CentraLink system they can: improve efficiency by automating, streamlining and customizing workflows; simplify operations with one integrated solution across automation, systems and IT; access the information that’s needed, when it is needed; and support better patient care by applying rules that ensure high-quality, accurate clinical results.

syngo Laboratory Inventory Manager (sLIM) is a lab inventory management system designed to leverage cloud-based technology and wireless radio frequency identification (RFID) to enable real-time, automated inventory management across multiple laboratories for streamlined workflow.
