Cardinal Health Launches New, Comfortable Surgical Gown

Cardinal Health introduced its new RoyalSilk surgical gown made from a unique, proprietary fabric that is softer to the skin than other surgical gowns, at the 2008 Congress for the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).

The new surgical gown expands Cardinal Health’s infection prevention apparel line and offers the additional benefits of improved comfort for operating room staff. Intended for general procedures that involve moderate to minimal fluid, the RoyalSilk gown provides AAMI Level 3 protection from blood, liquid and other potentially infectious material.

Surgical gowns are designed to protect patients from contaminants that health care workers may carry and safeguard the surgical team from infection by shielding them from blood, liquid and other potentially infectious material that can carry viruses and bacteria from one area to another.

The company says the RoyalSilk gown drapes the wearer in breathable softness. The company says it worked extensively with surgeons and nurses on designing and testing this new offering.
