Advanced Cardiac Physiology and Anatomy Course

The Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology at the University of Minnesota Medical School offers a series of courses designed for individuals working in Industry, people in postdoctoral training programs, or graduate students. Qualified undergraduates may also enroll (Physiology or BME advanced students). These intensive courses are all day ranging from 3-5 days. They provide an up-to-date survey of organ system physiology with anatomical dissections that will be invaluable for individuals who work in areas that involve human body function. 

Advanced Cardiac Physiology Course Description: 
This course consists of an intense one-week lecture and laboratory experience specifically designed for biomedical engineers. It includes both basic science and clinically related topics. Unique features of the course include basic cardiac physiology and associated clinical lectures; concentrated gross anatomy laboratory experiences using human cadavers, where small groups of students will be guided through detailed dissections of the human chest wall, thoracic cavity, and heart; live demonstrations (e.g., 12-lead EKG and echocardiography); meet-the-professor lunches; as well as a keynote lecture.
