TeraMedica Debuts Seamless Mobile Data Ingestion for the Evercore VNA at HIMSS 2013

Capture and archive non-DICOM data directly at the point-of-care

Evercore Connext Mobile Sotrage/Archive TeraMedica HIMSS 2013

February 26, 2013 — TeraMedica debuted the Evercore Connext Mobile at the 2013 HIMSS conference, bringing groundbreaking, seamless point-of-care data capture and archiving to an iPad or iPhone. At the touch of a button, Evercore Connext Mobile acquires photos, videos, sound files, notes and more with the highest level of security. Data is automatically archived directly to the hospital’s Evercore vendor neutral archive (VNA) as an integral part of the patient record for viewing through an electronic medical record (EMR) and the integrated TeraMedica Univision viewer.

Users launch the Connext Mobile process by selecting a patient from the worklist-driven application, creating a folder associated with the patient context and visit, encounter or order in the hospital’s Evercore VNA. All captured data is automatically stored to the appropriate patient folder and can be viewed seamlessly from within the EMR through an integrated link to the TeraMedica Univision viewer.   Univision provides a complete clinical patient history with the display of both digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) and non-DICOM data including full non-DICOM toolsets.

Once uploaded, the mobile data is managed using the patented clinical lifecycle rules within the Evercore VNA. Evercore Connext Mobile provides a high level of security for all captured data by utilizing server-based user authentication and encrypted data capture and transmission, protecting data even in the event of device loss. A task queue is included to display data transmission status and tracking of retries in the event of a dropped network connection.

In short, Evercore Connext Mobile is a complete, seamless mobile data integration tool for the archive providing:

  • Simplified mobile data capture
  • EMR integration for viewing and distribution via TeraMedica Univision
  • Worklist-based patient context
  • Intelligent clinical lifecycle management for mobile data
  • Security with single sign-on and encrypted transmission
  • Transmission status with retry abilities and tracking

Evercore Connext Mobile was created to solve significant issues facing healthcare providers today, notes TeraMedica’s Product Manager Nathan Gurgel. “Many healthcare facilities have real problems handling this type of non-standard data acquired on-the-fly,” said Gurgel. “Photos and video, for example, are often acquired and distributed through a variety of unsecured and untraceable methods such as email, SMS messaging and sharing portable drives. Evercore Connext Mobile solves this issue by providing a simple method to acquire the data and distribute it securely through an EMR.”

Gurgel added, “In addition to these benefits, users leverage the power of the VNA by consolidating all data in a single repository while also fulfilling meaningful use criteria.”

This new product offering expands TeraMedica’s Evercore Connext tool suite by providing broader industry-leading clinical non-DICOM data ingestion and distribution capabilities, based on standards that include XDS and HL7.
