Blackford Analysis Introduces SDK for Image Comparison Acceleration at HIMSS 2014

Blackford Analysis Software Development Kit SDK Advanced Visualization RSNA 2014

February 20, 2014 — Blackford Analysis, a software provider with products to accelerate medical image comparison, introduced its software development kit (SDK) at the HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Fla.

Blackford’s SDK provides the ability to improve care and increase productivity by boosting overall enterprise image comparison efficiency by 20 to 50 percent. By calculating and storing alignments with imaging studies, healthcare professionals can benefit from instant study comparison with a single click.

The SDK is designed to allow OEMs to integrate Blackford software into existing imaging systems such as departmental picture archive and communication systems (PACS), universal viewers and advanced imaging workstations. This can automatically align current and prior imaging studies before radiologist interpretation.

The Blackford Analysis SDK can provide a broad range of productivity benefits across the enterprise, such as:

  • Improving imaging comparison productivity by at least 20 percent, rising to >50 percent for certain cases such as lung cancer screening or lung nodule follow-up.
  • Saving radiology departments up to $26,000 per year per radiologist through improved time efficiency whenever imaging studies are compared.
  • Increasing patient throughput in multi-disciplinary team meetings by allowing clinicians to instantly navigate to the same location in across imaging studies.
