Merit Medical Gets 510(k) Clearance for Transradial Catheterization

July 25, 2007 - Merit Medical Systems Inc., a manufacturer and marketer of proprietary disposable devices used primarily in cardiology and radiology procedures, announced that it has received notification from the FDA of 510(k) clearance for the Prelude sheath introducer system for transradial applications.
As part of the company’s strategy to provide lower cost opportunities and early patient ambulation in an emerging growth market, Fred P. Lampropoulos, Merit's Chairman and CEO, indicated, "This product continues to fill out our Prelude line and is an important addition to our overall strategy. In many European, South American and Asian markets, this access method accounts for the majority of procedures."
