Percutaneous VAD Users Explain Cases at Symposium During ACC

March 9, 2010 – During the American College of Cardiology (ACC) 59th Annual Scientific Session, March 14-16, CardiacAssist will host its “Clinical Innovations in TandemHeart Support Symposium and User Group Meeting” from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at the W Hotel Midtown, Altitude Room, 188 14th St. NE, in Atlanta.

Case presentations will be discussed by Nirat Beohar, M.D., Northwestern Memorial Hospital; Alan Gass, M.D., Westchester Medical Center; Navin Kapur, M.D., Tufts Medical Center; and Roy Small, M.D., Lancaster General Hospital. In anticipation of the TandemHeart clinical milestone of the 2,000th case, the symposium will focus on cutting-edge uses of the TandemHeart to treat critically ill patients who have a variety of cardiac conditions. Attendees will learn “tips and tricks” from the some of the most progressive TandemHeart physicians. Current and prospective TandemHeart users are encouraged to attend the symposium and user group meeting.

FDA-cleared TandemHeart can be placed rapidly by both interventional cardiologists in a cath lab and by cardiac surgeons in an operating room. Hemodynamic support includes a net blood-flow rate of up to 5 liters per minute in the catheterization lab or up to 8 liters per minute in the OR.
