The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) 2019 Scientific Sessions in Las Vegas, May 19-22, with feature a peripheral vascular track with interactive sessions.
The track will include a blend of clinical challenges presented by emerging interventional stars and approaches to addressing them, which will be articulated and critiqued by expert panelists. The audience will be able to participate in discussion and share their expertise and experience. The program was changed from last year to move away from global overviews toward highly specific topics that will capture the burning issues in peripheral artery disease (PAD).
Peripheral live cases will offer an opportunity to see some of the most technically refined and engaging operators demonstrate their approach to complex endovascular cases. A professionally produced broadcast will highlight each movement and device manipulation, with commentary from a group of expert panelists.
The track also includes multiple technically enriching sessions with a mix of "do’s and don’ts," as well as ways to bail out of trouble, end of the road options, and “my worst nightmare.” Designed to foster candid discussions on the execution of specific technical maneuvers and ways to improvise out of the box solutions, these sessions will provide an opportunity to engage colleagues over the details of technical execution and device selection.
The exhibit hall technology exhibits will offer several hands-on displays so attendees can try wires and devices. Cases over cocktails in the exhibit hall will offer immersed learning, providing an opportunity to share informal commentary, friendly critique and candid self-assessment of skills and abilities.
The goal track will take a step beyond minimally invasive arterial interventions. These sessions have been designed to carefully choreographed synergy between devices and medical interventions as the cornerstone for delivering effective and durable therapy to patients. This concept will be front and center during highly practical didactic sessions on polyvascular disease states, pulmonary embolism, stroke interventions, venous diseases, thrombophilia, antithrombotic drug therapies and more.
Finally, the SCAI 2019 Peripheral Vascular Track has made it a priority to showcase many talented and emerging new presenters from diverse backgrounds and specialties, whose accomplishments vastly surpass their youth and experience.
