A device made by Life Support Inc reportedly allows remote electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring from any location in the U.S. with telephone access.
The 12-lead cardiac monitoring weighs less than a pound, said the company. The device is designed for use in locations where more traditional cardiac monitors are not practical, such as patient homes, professional sports complexes, schools and ambulances.
It can quickly transmit transtelephonically by any standard telephone line. Life Support Inc. receives the transmission and interprets the results. The facilities are staffed 24 hours a day and 365 days a year by registered nurses and certified cardiovascular specialists. Diagnosis is immediate and results can be provided by phone, fax or email.
