FDA to Host Best Practices for Cardviovascular Devices Conference

February 12, 2008 – The FDA, National Heart Lung & Blood Institute (NHLBI) and National Science Foundation, are hosting “Workshop on Computer Methods for Cardiovascular Devices,” on March 18-19, 2008, which will address computational mechanics and computing methods as part of an industry movement to employ best practices when using cardiovascular devices.

The conference will cover topics such as cardiac mechanics; cardiac fluid dynamics; blood flow in arteries; vessel wall mechanics; growth and remodeling and thrombosis; stents ; artificial heart valves; ventricular assist devices; and cardiac rhythm management. Additionally, the conference will address regulatory perspectives for best practices and tools needed to improve CV device modeling.
