Srihari S. Naidu, MD, MSCAI
Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College
System Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
National Center of Excellence at Westchester Medical Center
May 3, 2025 — The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI) announced its new leadership for 2025–26, with Srihari S. Naidu, MD, MSCAI, assuming the role of president during SCAI Scientific Sessions 2025, held May 1–3 in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Naidu is Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College and System Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) National Center of Excellence at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. A leading interventional cardiologist, he is internationally recognized for his work in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and cardiogenic shock, and is the lead author of the SCAI SHOCK Classification.
With two decades participating in SCAI, Dr. Naidu now leads the Society that he has long called his professional home. He is committed to ensuring all members have the opportunity to engage meaningfully and to help move the interventional cardiology field forward.
“SCAI has always been the society that meets you where you are—whether you’re in private practice or academia, early career or mid-career, at a community hospital or a national center. Whether you’re a seasoned cath lab director or just entering the field, I want you to know: this is your moment, and SCAI is your partner along the way,” Dr. Naidu said. “We will prioritize what matters most: practical, high-impact science that drives better patient care, advocating for policies that protect and empower our workforce, and a culture of mentorship that ensures no one has to navigate this path alone. Together, we will move forward addressing the challenges of today while building the infrastructure to meet the challenges of tomorrow.”
His presidential platform focuses on supporting members at all stages of their careers, addressing burnout and occupational safety in the cath lab, growing SCAI’s scientific and policy influence through broader alliances, and introducing a new national benchmark for cardiogenic shock care: Door to Lactate Clearance (DLC) in under 24 hours.
In addition, Dr. Naidu plans to enhance SCAI’s organizational sustainability through improved leadership training opportunities, particularly for mid-career members, and additional revenue streams such as individual and foundational giving.
Dr. Naidu succeeds James B. Hermiller, MD, MSCAI, who served as President from 2024 to 2025.
