St. Jude Medical’s FDA-Approved System Stores Cardiac Implantable Data Via Web

April 19, 2007 — Cardiac-device maker St. Jude Medical Inc. said Wednesday it received approval from the FDA for its Web-based system for storing patient device data for implantable cardiac devices, Associated Press reported.

The system, Merlin.net Patient Care Network, is an Internet-based central repository for patient device data. It enables physicians and clinicians to connect directly to patients' stored device data over the Internet.

It stores data from implant procedures, remote transmissions and in-clinic follow-up sessions. It also enables patients to send data to physicians from their home as well.
