May 13, 2024 — Innovative Health, Inc. announced that recent growth in single-use device reprocessing has delivered significant financial and environmental benefits to U.S. electrophysiology labs. These reductions in cost and carbon emissions will help shape conversations around the value of medical technology re-use at the annual Heart Rhythm Society conference in Boston, MA. The annual meeting of physicians, manufacturers, and administrators in electrophysiology will take place May 16-19. Innovative Health reports it will present recent FDA clearances and new initiatives to help labs reduce costs and their environmental footprint.

Last year, Innovative Health expanded its partnerships with EP labs across the country by 25% and grew cost reductions to its partner labs by 35%. The average lab saw an increase in savings of 17%, thanks to new clearances from FDA, and the number of labs saving more than $1 million through single-use device reprocessing grew by 50%. At the same time, Innovative Health’s single-use device reprocessing program helped its partner hospitals reduce their carbon emissions by an additional 37% compared to 2022.

While single-use device reprocessing and its cost savings benefits have traditionally been promoted by lab management, physicians are increasingly playing a role in the adoption of device re-use in the electrophysiology lab.

“Electrophysiologists are increasingly aware that they need to play a role in reducing the cost of electrophysiology procedures in order to deliver the patient care impact they want,” said Innovative Health CEO Rick Ferreira. “At the same time, they are becoming increasingly sensitive to the impact the relentless adoption of new single-use device technology has on the environment. I believe they are truly adopting a sense of resource stewardship that is so badly needed in electrophysiology today. I am hopeful that Heart Rhythm Society’s conference will reflect this.”

Innovative Health will focus its dialogue at Heart Rhythm Society 2024 on resource stewardship, its combined financial and environmental benefits, and the role the physician plays in this. The company recently received its 47th clearance from FDA. Its most recent clearance grants Innovative Health the ability to reprocess Boston Scientific’s VersaCross Access Solution and SureFlex Steerable Guiding Sheath. The company will present at Booth #1047 during HRS2024.
