May 18, 2026 — Fujifilm Healthcare Americas Corp. has launched the EB-710US Ultrasound Bronchoscope, an endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) solution designed to streamline workflow and enhance imaging performance for pulmonologists and healthcare systems. The new scope is being demonstrated at the American Thoracic Society Conference in Orlando, Florida.
The EB-710US introduces a novel balloon-less design and enables precise tissue apposition, supported by a 180° acute bending angulation, a slim 6.4 mm distal end, and a narrow 5.9 mm insertion tube for enhanced maneuverability and access. The balloon-less design of the scope helps to reduce infection risks associated with the balloon — such as residual contamination after reprocessing and biofilm formation — while also eliminating the added cost of disposable balloons. Additionally, traditional EBUS scopes rely on a balloon at the tip to create consistent contact between the ultrasound probe and the airway wall. The balloon has to be carefully attached and checked to make sure there are no air bubbles. Even small bubbles can interfere with ultrasound transmission, so staff must spend extra time preparing and verifying the setup before each procedure. With the introduction of the EB-710US to the U.S. market, now there is no need to manually attach or position a balloon for the procedure. Clinicians save considerable time during procedure preparation and can be assured of a clear ultrasound image with ample tissue contact and exceptional tissue depth visualization.
“Pulmonologists have long balanced the need for high-quality imaging with the practical challenges of procedure efficiency and reprocessing,” said Tai Fujita, Senior Vice President, Endoscopy Division, Fujifilm Healthcare Americas Corp. “With our new balloon-less EBUS scope, we’re removing unnecessary complexity while delivering exceptional ultrasound performance and simplifying workflow. Fujifilm’s EB-710US is rooted in listening to our clinician partners and reflects our commitment to advancing pulmonary care through smarter, safer technology. The EB-710US reflects that commitment by addressing key challenges in EBUS procedures - reducing complexity while elevating image quality.”
High Performance Ultrasound Transducer
At the core of the EB-710US is Fujifilm’s high performance ultrasound transducer, engineered to deliver enhanced resolution and deep penetration, producing a clear, detailed ultrasound image. The scope also features several competitive design features to improve access and visibility into the lung periphery, including:
-
Acute 180° upward and 90° downward angulation
-
Slim 6.4mm distal end and 5.9mm insertion tube for enhanced maneuverability
-
Shortened transducer to help improve mucosal contact
-
A continuous, unobstructed view of the needle to help ensure accurate puncture alignment
-
A wide 120° field of view to improve visibility during procedures
In published reports, physicians document success using the EB-710US to access challenging mediastinal and peripheral targets without a balloon1-3.
