November 5, 2008 - Cardiac Science Corp. today launched the fourth generation of its Burdick HeartStride exercise stress systems.

This new version adds echo and nuclear systems connectivity to the existing connectivity with EMR/other systems. HeartStride 4.0 enhances workflow. With a single log-in to the EMR, a clinician can download information and orders directly to HeartStride and upload results directly to a patient’s record, the company said.

November 4, 2008 - Terumo Heart Inc. said the first DuraHeart Left Ventricular Assist System (LVAS) was implanted in October at the University of Tokyo Hospital in Japan.

Terumo’s LVAS is the world’s first, third-generation left ventricular assist system combining a centrifugal pump with a magnetically levitated impeller. The product received the CE mark in Europe in 2007 and began its U.S. pivotal trial in July 2008.

November 3, 2008 - LifeNet Health received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for CardioGraft allograft cardiac patch products with MatrACELL decellularization technology.

LifeNet Health received clearance for the technology for cardiac products, which safely removes donor cells from cardiovascular tissues while retaining the native biomechanical strength of the tissue.

The company said the clearance strengthens LifeNet Health’s position in the pediatric cardiac reconstruction market.
