June 19, 2024 — Modern therapies have extended the lives of many cancer patients; however, survivors often live with chronic health conditions, including cardiovascular disease.
It is with great sadness that the DAIC/ITN team learned of the sudden passing of former Editor Cristen Bolan on June 17. Cristen worked on the brands from 2005-2010, before moving on to other industry related ventures. Our team extends its sincere sympathy to her family and friends.
While the spotlight in 2023 shone on developments around Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), away from the limelight a quiet revolution in AI was taking place, which promises to transform the way we diagnose, manage, and treat cardiovascular diseases, the world’s leading cause of death.

June 18, 2024 — As we commemorate Juneteenth 2024, JACC, the flagship journal of the American College of Cardiology, has published “Excess Cardiovascular Mortality Among Black Americans 2000-2022: A Report Card,” to highlight the persistent and tragic inequities in cardiovascular care and put in human terms the years of life lost to the Black community because of their higher cardiovascular disease death rates.
