FDA Clears GE Healthcare’s New Intravascular Ultrasound

The FDA has given GE Healthcare clearance to market the Vivid i with Intracardiac echo (ICE), a system designed to provide high performance ultrasound in a space saving design.

The new, fully contained ICE system aims for exceptional, real-time image guidance and visualization of anatomical structures to help clinicians increase their confidence when performing complex interventional cardiology and electrophysiology procedures.

Alone, the small and compact Vivid i systems deliver imaging performance comparable that of today’s high-end console ultrasound systems without crowding the lab. Combined with ICE catheter technology performance and navigational versatility of the ACUSON AcuNav 10F ultrasound catheter, the systems also reportedly help cardiologists confidently navigate complex invasive procedures.

The AcuNav catheter is distributed in the U.S. exclusively by Biosense Webster, Inc, a Johnson & Johnson company.
