December 22, 2014 — With the introduction of the Aplio 300 and 500 Platinum Series from Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc., clinicians can now meet goals of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Triple Aim. This enhancement to Toshiba’s existing Aplio 300 and 500 systems expands the clinical utility of ultrasound, allowing providers to consolidate lines of care onto a single platform.

The Aplio platinum series provides clinical imaging tools for advanced visualization, quantification and intervention. This includes Beam, a new technique that improves needle visualization during ultrasound-guided procedures. On the Aplio 500 Platinum, shear wave elastography is a new tool to noninvasively measure tissue stiffness of the liver and potentially reduce expensive biopsies, while Superb Micro-Vascular Imaging (SMI) can capture low-velocity blood flow without the need for contrast agents or more invasive modalities.

The Aplio 300 and 500 Platinum Series was introduced at RSNA 2014.
