August 15, 2007 - Merit Medical Systems Inc., a leading manufacturer and marketer of proprietary disposable devices used primarily in cardiology and radiology procedures, announced today that it has acquired the exclusive distribution rights for microcatheters from GMA Co., Ltd. with the rights over all North American, South American and European markets, as well as Middle Eastern and Asian markets.
The rights were acquired for an undisclosed sum and require certain performance requirements from both parties. The microcatheters are reportedly one of the top catheters currently used in Japan.
The product line is marketed to interventional radiologists and is expected to be introduced during the first half of 2008 following submission to the FDA and European regulatory bodies.
