Siemens' New US Improves Paradigm Shifting, Masters Acoustics

November 26, 2007 - Siemens Medical Solutions unveiled at RSNA 2007 the ACUSON S2000 ultrasound platform, the first system in Siemens' new S Class of ultrasound products, which features capabilities for paradigm-shifting applications such as Acoustic Radiation Forced Impulse (ARFI)* imaging and is prepared to integrate Silicon Ultrasound technology.

Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse (ARFI) Imaging utilizes acoustic energy to compress tissue, providing qualitative and quantitative assessment of tissue stiffness. Advanced SieClear spatial compounding enhances anatomic border definition and improves tissue contrast while Dynamic TCE tissue contrast enhancement technology reduces speck/noise and enhances borders. An advanced transducer technology incorporates twice the elements with half the space to improve slice thickness, image uniformity and contrast resolution.

The syngo eSieCalcs native tracing software automatically increases measurement accuracy of complex lesions based on pattern recognition, while syngo Auto OB measurements searches and compares image regions to an expert database which reportedly improves workflow, accuracy and consistency of measurements. The system also features volume imaging through advanced fourSight technology and amnioscopic rendering, and STIC (Spatio-Temporal Imaging Correlation) captures data over multiple heart cycles to create a 3D fetal heart volume.

The system also features: eSie Touch elasticity imaging which calculates and displays relative tissue stiffness through gentle compression cycle; Cadence contrast pulse sequencing technology that provides sensitivity and specificity to contrast agent signal for border and lesion detection and characterization and Axius direct ultrasound research interface which allows access to raw ultrasound data prior to the back-end system processing.

*ARFI is a Works in Progress
