Web Portal Leverages Cloud Technology for Universal Image Access

October 12, 2010 – A new collaborative Web portal brings a familiar user interface to the medical imaging world. Accelarad has updated its SeeMyRadiology.com portal to resemble LinkedIn and Facebook. The portal will be introduced at RSNA 2010.

This new web application takes advantage of the same HIPAA compliant and scalable cloud-computing platform. While providing a full range of general functionalities and tools, the new portal also fine-tunes the technology to provide a suite of innovative solutions to a range of pressing issues in medical image sharing today.

The new Trauma Exchange Manager allows emergency rooms to share critical imaging data with referral facilities to ensure timely and appropriate transfer decisions and prepare clinical teams in advance of patient arrivals.

It runs inside of a Web browser and enables image uploading on-the-fly with no application download or dedicated hardware running at remote sites. Alternatively, running as an onsite appliance, the SeeMyRadiology.com gateway can quickly and efficiently transfer images.

Complementing this is a cloud-based web application for diagnostic image review and messaging between surgeons, trauma triage centers and remote emergency departments. Users can also access SeeMyRadiology.com via their smartphones.

The Tertiary Referral Manager includes online file upload technology for remote sites requiring ultra-fast communication of patients’ images from a CD or PACS. An online collaboration feature provides real-time message exchange between participants. With appropriate permissions, the module also enables sites to push outside studies from the cloud to an on-site PACS solution for permanent retention.

Additionally, SeeMyRadiology.com provides a patient image sharing module for a faster and more convenient alternative to image CDs. With this module, imaging facilities can share all exams with their patients online and eliminate the difficulties and costs of hard-copy media. From this central communications hub, patients also can share studies with hospitals, physicians or other patients. A native PHR interface also allows patients to link their account with systems such as Google Health or Microsoft Healthvault.
