TCT Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Event went from 200 attendees to become interventional event with more than 12,000

September 26, 2013 – In 1988, the first Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics conference was held with less than 200 attendees in the basement of the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC. The first meeting, a forum where physicians came to exchange ideas and compare emerging technologies, featured a single live case transmitted from Georgetown University School of Medicine.

This October, TCT will celebrate its 25th anniversary with an anticipated attendance of 12,000 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, Calif. State-of-the-art HD live cases will be transmitted from 20 locations around the world. Today, TCT showcases new technology and techniques in multiple formats and venues to help physicians to immediately adapt new therapies into their practices, ensuring that treatments are available to patients at the earliest opportunity.

TCT has grown, just as the subspecialty of interventional cardiology has changed dramatically over the past 25 years. TCT has matured from a small niche meeting focused on angioplasty to an international gathering that encompasses the entire spectrum of emerging catheter-based technologies and techniques.
