May 6, 2011 – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has released its list of pre-market approval (PMA) decisions for new or enhanced medical devices from March 2011.

Prior to the approval, carotid stenting was only indicated for used in high-risk surgical patients who were often denied the standard-of-care of carotid endarterectomy surgery.
