November 4, 2007 - The prevalence of asymptomatic peripheral artery disease (PAD) is steadily increasing among American adults, researchers reported at the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions 2007.

PAD occurs when fatty deposits accumulate in the inner linings of artery walls, restricting blood flow and needed oxygen to the legs, feet, arms and other areas of the body. PAD increases the risk of dying from heart disease and stroke.

Ovalum Ltd., a privately held Israeli medical device company, has received FDA marketing clearance for the CiTop Guidewire system for angiographic procedures in the peripheral vasculature, a device intended to assist in the treatment of chronic complete arterial blockage (CTO).

November 1, 2007 - American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII) Trustees announced that it held its first board meeting on September 21, 2007, and elected officers to various positions.

The ABII Board of Trustees is comprised of three appointees from the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM), three others appointed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and one public member (yet to be named) who is not employed in the field of imaging informatics.
