ScImage Debuts Cloud PACS With Traditional PACS Functionality

July 20, 2011 – ScImage recently launched PicomCloud, a complete, self-service cloud picture archiving and communication system (PACS) for radiology, cardiology and other clinical specialties.

Many cloud PACS services introduced recently offer competent services for simple image forwarding, while others are limited to a specific clinical specialty, like radiology. PicomCloud is proficient in imaging, reporting and workflow management for radiology, cardiology, orthopedics, obstetrics, mammography and many other clinical settings.

The system is well-suited in the market where IT support is limited or cost prohibitive. PicomCloud account holders are relieved of the costly outlay and ongoing support costs of server hardware, data storage and network infrastructure required for a traditional PACS. The combination of ever-expanding network bandwidth, abundant processing power and relatively inexpensive storage, has created an environment where PACS buyers are more widely comfortable with and reliant upon software-as-a-service.

The system simplifies deployment for customers, offers instant availability to the latest software revisions and virtually eliminates up-front costs.

The PicomCloud provides professional utilities to automate the acquisition of exams to the cloud, delivers rich image visualization and sophisticated reporting, along with report delivery tools, primary care provider access and online account management.
