February 28, 2018 — The American College of Cardiology’s Cardiovascular Summit will begin on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, bringing together leading experts from the entire cardiovascular care team to discuss and present best practices on operational excellence, cost efficiency, leadership training and workforce wellness during this time of changing healthcare delivery.
“The way we deliver care is changing rapidly,” said Cardiovascular Summit Course Director Howard Walpole, M.D., MBA, FACC. “Cardiovascular Summit is designed for the whole care team — clinician and administrator. Our goal is for attendees to bring home business and leadership strategies and skills that can be used within their work environment and help them deliver even better care to patients.”
For the first time at Cardiovascular Summit, posters examining best practices will be presented. The following abstracts are a selection of the posters being presented:
- Corrie and iShare: Loaner Smartphones as an Effective Model for mHealth;
- The Heart Team: From Concept to Implementation;
- Implementation of an electronic medical record (EMR)-based cardiovascular discharge checklist to close gaps in care; and
- Same Day Discharge Following Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
Advisory Board expert Megan Tooley, ACC Chief Innovation Officer John Rumsfeld, M.D., FACC, and past ACC Board of Governors chair Robert Shor, M.D., FACC, make up a portion of the plenary speakers at the conference. The ACC will also host a joint plenary session with the Heart Rhythm Society and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions titled “Striving for Reliability: Reducing Unnecessary Variation in Clinical Care – EP, Cath Lab, Heart Failure.” ACC past president Pamela Douglas, M.D., MACC, and ACC Board of Trustee member Cathleen Biga, MSN, RN, also serve as course directors of the conference.
