The unit is available with ADAPTIV biphasic technology and comes with a choice of standard, pediatric and/or sterlizable internal and external paddles. It’s compatible with QUIK-COMBO pacing/defibrillation/ECG electrodes.

April 1, 2008 – Boston Scientific welcomed results from Abbott’s prospective, randomized, single blind, two-year SPIRIT II Trial, comparing the safety and efficacy of the XIENCE V (PROMUS) Everolimus-Eluting Coronary Stent and Boston Scientific’s TAXUS Express Paclitaxel Eluting Coronary Stent System in 300 patients in Europe.

The PROMUS Stent is a private-label XIENCE V manufactured by Abbott and distributed by Boston Scientific.

April 1, 2008 – The Therapeutic Temperature Management Congress will take place Oct. 1-4 in Barcelona, Spain.

The congress will focus on current practices and research in therapeutic hypothermia and temperature management in patients. Dr. Kees Polderman will lead a group of international medical leaders in the topic of therapeutic temperature management.

April 1, 2008 - Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) may be a reasonable alternative to bypass surgery in patients with blockages in the left main coronary artery, according to a study that found no significant difference in rates of survival when stents and bypass surgery were used to restore blood flow through this critically important artery.

Patients who were treated with stenting were more likely to need a repeat procedure to keep the artery open, however.

April 1, 2008 - “Real-world” use of a novel drug-eluting stent coated with a biodegradable polymer is associated with good clinical outcomes, according to one-year data from a large international registry.

April 1, 2008 – Siemens showcased its Artis zee family at the ACC conference this week, its next generation of interventional imaging systems for cardiology, designed for enhanced image quality, optimized workflow and increased return on investment.

One of the first facilities in North America to receive Artis zee systems is Bethesda Heart Institute in Boynton Beach, FL.

Cardinal Health introduced its new RoyalSilk surgical gown made from a unique, proprietary fabric that is softer to the skin than other surgical gowns, at the 2008 Congress for the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
