April 1, 2008 – KARDIA Health Systems featured its new Kardia E cardiovascular suite at ACC 2008.

Developed at and licensed by Mayo Clinic, Kardia E is a Web-based clinical, diagnostic and reporting solution designed for use by echocardiography laboratories. The system is designed to manage patient echo procedures—from scheduling, data entry, automated and suggested impressions to report generation and coded billing.

Cardinal Health introduced its new RoyalSilk surgical gown made from a unique, proprietary fabric that is softer to the skin than other surgical gowns, at the 2008 Congress for the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).

The new surgical gown expands Cardinal Health’s infection prevention apparel line and offers the additional benefits of improved comfort for operating room staff. March 31, 2008 - The direct renin inhibitor aliskiren was found to be as effective as the angiotensin receptor blocker, losartan, currently considered the gold standard for regressing left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), according to results from the ALLAY (The ALiskiren Left Ventricular Assessment of HypertrophY) presented today at the American College of Cardiology's 57th Annual Scientific Session (ACC.08).

Many patients with hypertension develop increased heart mass, known as LVH, which is a marker of cardiac end-organ damage and a powerful predictor of adverse outcomes.
