October 8, 2007 - Drug-eluting stents were found to be most effective in reducing the need for repeat angioplasty procedures or bypass surgery in angioplasty patients at the ‘highest risk for a renarrowing of the artery around the stent, without significantly increasing the rate of death or risk of heart attack, said a new study by Ontario’s Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) and McMaster University’s Program for Assessment of Technologies in Health.

October 8, 2007 - Enova Medical Technologies said today it developed new LED technology for cordless surgical headlights reaching light output levels exceeding 200,000 lux at 14 inches.
The company says this new technology provides light intensity comparable to most 300-watt fiber optic xenon headlight systems that are commonly used by “deep cavity” surgeons, such as cardio, colorectal, neuro, orthopedic, thoracic, and vascular surgeons.

October 5, 2007 – Royal Philips Electronics announced it will acquire U.S.-based Raytel Cardiac Services, a division of Raytel Medical Corp., and other ancillary operations from SHL Telemedicine Ltd., for approximately $110 million in cash, as part of Philips’ strategy enhance its healthcare offerings in cardiology.

October 5, 2007 - InSite One Inc. recently announced the signing of a co-marketing agreement with Technology Imaging Services (TIS), aiming to provide TIS and their clients with a comprehensive tool kit in archiving, storage and data recovery solutions for these specific data sets.
