IMRIS Inc. announced in late July that investment funds managed by Deerfield Management Company L.P. (“Deerfield”) were the prevailing parties in the recently completed sale process for the company’s assets. Deerfield is a healthcare-focused investment firm that manages over $6 billion in assets, and has been the company’s lender, both prior to and following the commencement of the company’s chapter 11 proceedings.

Medtronic plc announced that the first two European patient cases with the Endurant Evo AAA stent graft system were successfully performed at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Both procedures were performed by Prof. Hence Verhagen, M.D., Ph.D., chief of vascular surgery, and his team.

In an effort to demonstrate how 3-D printing can help better interpret medical imaging, Philips teamed up with 3-D printer manufacturer Ultimaker to create detailed replicas of Philips magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans.  The replicas were displayed at the 2015 International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) annual meeting in Toronto, May 30-June 5.

3M announced 12 new color options for its Littmann Classic III line of stethoscopes. The colors range from Plum to Pearl Pink to Caribbean Blue and Lime Green. There are also four new color combinations with smoke and rainbow chestpiece finishes.
