Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS)

This channel includes news and new technology innovations for cardiovascular information systems, CVIS, also called cardiac PACS (C-PACS) and cardiovascular information and imaging systems. These cardiac reporting systems connect to the overall patient electronic medical record (EMR), cardiac imaging, echo reporting, diagnostic test (ECG) reporting, cath lab hemodynamics system, and other components to aggregate all cardiac patient data, imaging and waveforms into one location.

Sci-image, Scimage, CVIS, CIIMS, Cpacs c-pacs, cardiovascular information system

Today's cardiovascular information systems need to incorporate all facets of the cardiology department, including subspecialties, to allow a complete picture of a patient's record. These data also need to be able to be shared with enterprise data systems, such as the electronic medical record (EMR). This image is from ScImage, illustrating the various aspects that integrate to make up a complete CVIS.

McKesson, iPad, CVIS, ECG mobile viewer

Dynamic ECG waveforms displayed on an iPad using McKesson's mobile ECG viewer, which directly connects to the hospital's cardiovascular information system or ECG management system. This technology can help speed triage of STEMI patients, allowing diagnosis anywhere, rather than requiring cardiologists to walk down to an emergency department or drive into the hospital to view the ECG.
