May 21, 2009 – Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. introduced two advanced multidetector CT systems, the Aquilion Premium edition and the Aquilion CX edition. The Aquilion Premium provides an upgrade path to the Aquilion ONE, while the Aquilion CX is an advanced 64-detector row CT system that incorporates superior features of the existing Aquilion 64.

May 20, 2009 – Lantheus Medical Imaging Inc. has signed an agreement with NTP Radioisotopes (Pty) Ltd., a subsidiary of the South African Nuclear Energy Corp. (NECSA), to manufacture and supply Lantheus with an ongoing volume of molybdenum-99 (Mo-99), a key isotope used in medical imaging procedures.

The federal government has made it known for years it was interested in overhauling the American healthcare system and its desire to migrate to electronic medical records (EMRs). The key issue with EMRs has been funding, and it would take a lot to make a nationwide-wide effort to bring healthcare into an interoperable, computerized state.
