June 17, 2008 - Gamma Medica-Ideas and GE Healthcare signed an agreement that GE Healthcare will be the exclusive distributor of Gamma Medica-Ideas' preclinical imaging products effective July 1, 2008, as announced at the 55th annual meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine. Pre-Clinical imaging plays a key role in new pharmaceutical therapeutic development by allowing researchers to visualize the structure, function and response of laboratory animals in vivo.

June 17, 2008 – Findings indicate that when used with PET technology, BMS747158 demonstrates a favorable radiation dosimetry profile and is generally well tolerated, according to data presented by Lantheus Medical Imaging at SNM 2008.

Principal Investigator, Dr. Jamshid Maddah presented the Phase I data relating to the safety and tolerability in human subjects of BMS747158, its novel fluorine 18-labeled positron emission tomography (PET) tracer for myocardial perfusion imaging.

June 17, 2008 - Angiotech Pharmaceuticals Inc. recently launched marketing of its Quill SRS MONODERM for superficial wound closure.

The product will be available immediately for distribution and sale in the U.S. and Europe.

Quill SRS MONODERM, which is made from a rapidly resorbing polymer, is intended primarily for superficial wound closure applications and indicated for soft tissue approximation where use of an absorbable suture is appropriate.

Medtronic has extended its line of CRT leads with Attain StarFix OTW (over-the-wire) lead (Model 4195), an active fixation left-heart lead for cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT).

June 16, 2008 – Philips released today its new Philips BrightView XCT, reportedly the first time a flat panel X-ray detector will be used for CT imaging in nuclear medicine, integrating Philips BrightView SPECT in a coplanar design with advanced flat-detector X-ray CT technology to acquire low dose, high resolution CT images and to improve registration confidence.

June 16, 2008 - To help ensure that more healthcare facilities throughout the U.S. have access to the positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) technology that helps clinicians diagnose and treat disease earlier and more effectively, Siemens has opened two new radiopharmacies in Las Vegas and Pittsburgh.

These two new facilities will produce imaging biomarkers that are a crucial component of PET-CT tests used to diagnose cancer and cardiac and neurological ailments.

June 16, 2008 - Mindray Medical International Ltd. received FDA 510(k) clearance for its DC-3 color ultrasound system.

The DC-3 color ultrasound imaging system is designed to have extensive applications in abdominal, OB/GYN, endovaginal, cardiac, small parts and pediatric markets. The DC-3 is tailored to expand Mindray's customer base in low-end markets and complements the company’s FDA-approved DC-6 and portable M5 ultrasound imaging systems, which are targeted for middle and high-end markets and previously received FDA 510(k) clearance.

June 13, 2008 - MEDRAD signed a distribution and co-marketing partnership agreement with PETNET Solutions, a fully owned subsidiary of Siemens Medical Solutions, enabling healthcare providers to inject Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) for positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging procedures in a new way.

MEDRAD’s PET infusion system, Intego, is designed to automatically extract a patient dose from a multidose vial and deliver it directly to the patient. The system is mobile and includes dosimetry, shielding and a touchscreen interface.
