March 19, 2007 — “Health IT Strategist” reports that San Francisco-based Practice Fusion is offering its Web-based electronic medical record and practice management solutions to physicians for free with the costs of the service subsidized by Google advertising. It has reported that 600 small physician practices have already signed up.

Because of its partnership with Google, Practice Fusion is offering its products without licensing fees or hosting charges, and the company said its system doesn’t require any software to implement and manage.

March 19, 2007 — AT&T Inc. has announced an agreement wherein it will upgrade the conference platform used by Medical Information Technology, Inc. (MEDITECH), a leading software vendor in the
healthcare informatics industry. The migration to AT&T's new audio and video Web-conference services occurs two years into a wide-ranging agreement for AT&T's networking services with MEDITECH. Specific terms of the new contract were not disclosed.
