Ultrasound Intra-cardiac Echo (ICE)

Ultrasound intra-cardiac echo (ICE) is a type of cardiovascular ultrasound or echocardiogram where the transducer is placed inside the heart. It is commonly used to guide devices inside the heart for transcatheter procedures, including electrophysiology ablations and structural heart interventions. It is often used to guide septal punctures. This channel includes news and new technology innovations about ICE.

An example of intra-cardiac echo (ICE) imaging from Siemens Healthineers showing color flow Doppler with severe valve regurgitation. ICE has seen wider use in transcatheter structural heart  procedures because, unlike TEE, it can be used without deeper sedation of anesthesia.
